Fountain of high-energy particles detected in Antarctica may be proof of a parallel universe: Study

A group of researchers have claimed that "a fountain of high-energy particles erupting from the ice" in Antarctica could also be proof of a parallel universe.

A lead researcher mentioned that the phenomenon is "in fairly robust pressure with the usual mannequin of physics" and it was recorded by NASA's Antarctic Impulsive Transient Antenna (ANITA).

Designed by NASA, ANITA is a stratospheric balloon payload flying over Antarctica. The principle goal of ANITA is to detect cosmic-ray air showers by way of radio-wave alerts fter bouncing off the ice.

ANITA succeeded in detecting the 'fountain' of high-energy particles in 2006 and 2014 however the researchers initially thought them as background noise or glitches.

Lead researcher and College of Hawai'i Physics Professor Peter Gorham instructed Newshub that in 2016 the researchers performed a better inspection of the information and located  phenomenon resembling an "upside-down cosmic-ray bathe".

"What we noticed is one thing that regarded similar to a cosmic ray, as seen in reflection off the ice sheet, nevertheless it wasn't mirrored. It was as if the cosmic ray had come out of the ice itself. A really unusual factor," mentioned Prof Gorham.

In response to researchers, these particles may very well be travelling again by way of time, which reveals that there's a parallel universe similar to us by which the usual legal guidelines of physics function in reverse.

"Not everybody was snug with the speculation," Prof Gorham admitted to New Scientist.

Talking to the College of Hawai'i, he mentioned the phenomenon "may very well be a sign of some new sort of physics, what we name past the usual mannequin of physics".
