The Sagar police in Shivamogga district have filed an FIR in opposition to Congress interim president Sonia Gandhi over some tweets posted on the official Twitter deal with of the celebration criticising the utilisation of the PM CARES fund and the way in which Prime Minister Narendra Modi has dealt with the COVID-19 state of affairs.

In the meantime, the State Congress has urged Chief Minister B.S. Yediyurappa to withdraw the FIR. In a letter to Mr. Yediyurappa, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) president-designate D.Okay. Shivakumar mentioned the criticism has been filed “with a political motive and false data on Ms. Gandhi’s tweet”.
“That is blatant misuse of the method of legislation with the intention to snub the best to wholesome criticism,” Mr. Shivakumar mentioned.
Within the letter, the Congress chief demanded withdrawal of the FIR and suspension of the police officer involved. “We urge the federal government to register an FIR in opposition to mentioned police officer for misusing the method of legislation within the curiosity of justice and fairness,” the KPCC chief mentioned.
